Forecasting Incredible Growth Potential of Twitter: Are we Now at the Tweeping Point?

By my calculations Twitter currently has only a .4% penetration of global internet users…still truly only on the blade of the hockey stick. Forgive the hockey reference, but as a Canadian the world’s number one hockey nation, I suppose I’m allowed. Oh and it’s important to note that this total includes very few if any of the millions of mobile users for which this may be the next killer app!

These statistics come from a couple of sources, the current estimated number of six million Twitter users from a recent article Can All That Twitters Turn to Gold Amid the Gloom? by Michael Liedtke ( @liedtkesfc ).

And the total internet users of 1,574,313,184 as was noted on Internet World Stats page which total btw is still less than 25% of the total world population of 6,710,029,070!

So you can see when Twitter is currently only .4% (6,000,000) of the current 23.5% (1,574,313,184) of the total people of earth (6,710,029,070) who are already on the internet one thing it has is a significant upside growth potential.

How fast will this happen we will just have to wait and see, but our prediction is at a geometrically accelerating viral rate, so I hope Twitter’s computational serving power is scaling to meet this onslaught or we’re all going to be seeing Moby Dick way too often!
